"Cowgirl Up!" Linky Party #4

Welcome to Week 4 of
 Cowgirl Up! Link Party . . .

the party with a cowgirl can-do  spirit!
1 Party, 4 Blogs

Hey there friends! This is Linsey from The Farmhouse Porch. Did you get a chance to check out the link ups last week? The creative juices that were tapped out over the holidays are really pumping again! Everybody has fresh new ideas and it is really exciting to see the neat stuff you guys are sharing. I was so excited to be able to pick the featured bloggers this time around, until I tried to narrow down the picks. It was like a box of chocolates...all of them are good and each one has something different inside!
Here are my flavors of the week...
An "industrial chic meets romantic"  DIY chandy by Ranger 911 . So dreamy Vickie!

Botanical wall perfection by Dimples and Tangles

A drab to fab TV cabinet makeover with Annie Sloan Chalk paint by Our Adventures in Big Ole Texas

Another cute chandelier! This time a steal-of-a-deal Pottery Barn knock off by The Velvet Door

Is it just me, or is aqua super hot this year? A bold and beautiful finishing job on this chest of drawers by Decorating Insanity

I'm a sucker for handmade gifts. I would be overjoyed to recieve something as lovely as this "DIY Herb Garden Gift Set" by Twigg Studios

And I must say that I'm intrigued by this creamy Lettuce Arugula Soup recipe by Town and Country Living. The recipe looks tasty and the photographs are farmhouse fresh!

****For Sale or trade****

If you live in, or are willing to drive to, the Houston,TX area this ad is for you!

I am selling a black china hutch with an antique finish. It is a nice piece of furniture, not an antique though. Very solid and heavy, working lighting. I removed all of the glass and hardware when I refinished it, I still have the glass shelves. I had planned to make new shelves and put beadboard in the back, and add burlap curtains to the doors, but I started having babies at about that time so it just sat there. Now I'm tired of looking at it and I want something new. I did a really neat finish on it of antiqued black oil plaint and a wax rub over that.

Would make a great TV cabinet in a bedroom or display in a store or booth!

Asking $200

email me or reply here if interested!

Thank you for looking : )

I'm having an affair. With Ironstone and metal baskets apperantly

I am up to my eyeballs in projects right now. My biggest is a  showing of my paintings on Gallery Night, March 24. So nervous about this! I spent most of the afternoon painting but I still have lots to do. Besides the finishing touches I need to varnish and do the edges and sign and give them time to dry. I WILL be done by the end of the weekend. I must.
But I also get distracted (stop laughing mom) by daydreams of changing up my decor. I have a plan for my dining room. Part of my plan involved rounding up all of my white ironstone. I don't have tons, and I've mixed in a few pieces that I don't think even ARE ironstone but who cares. It's my house and I can call it ironstone if I want. I also gathered up most of my metal baskets. I had NO idea I had so many. And it's dangerous to leave them mounded up all together right girls? Because we all know that eventually the hubs will notice them and ask you why on earth you need 200 metal baskets.

The mess was so pretty I just had to snap a few photos and share them with you to let you know I'm still alive!

Do you like this caddy I got at Home Goods? That store is SO fun isn't it?

Those are some of my paintings over there to the right...I need them outta here!

Oh look...another basket...

I kinda like them just laying there all together.

Boy my house looks empty back there. I can't believe there's a wall space I haven't filled up yet!

This is my fave. I got him at Canton about 12 years ago.  See that bucket back there? $1 at the thrift store!  I think I'll plant some basil in there...
project #86. Plant basil in bucket. : )

Infested antiques! EWWWW!

This is going to be a strange post and if you're eating you may want to come back later...

*Notice that I did not re size this pic to "x-large". You're Welcome.
Have you guys seen that new show on Animal Planet "Infested"? I am strangely addicted and the show is actually changing the way I see antiques a little bit.

First of all, I STERILIZE my kitchen after every viewing of hoarders or infested. Watching these creepy shows does help me do my chores, which is good. Last night after "Infested" I did my kitchen scrub-down and hubby walked in. He's been very sick with a cold and sleeping all day. He wanted me to make him some soup. "After I finish this!" I snapped, scrubbing an old antique produce scale that I keep on my counter. He gave me a hard time about that "That old scale can wait...you've had it sitting there forever! I'm so hungry!". Hmph...obviously he didn't realize that our house was one grimy antique away from attracting every pest in Texas.

Anyways...

I don't know that I'll ever be able to buy a large chest of drawers or an upholstered piece again. I'm picturing cockroach eggs and bedbugs now when I go to Goodwill. Am I being ridiculous? Have these thoughts ever crossed your mind? You don't know where this stuff came from! Ever seen Hoarders??? They take moldy trash and dead rats off of furniture and then turn around and sell it or donate it. Now an old metal watering can or some ironstone...I can sanitize that kind of stuff of course. But things with lots of natural material where things can nest...bluuuruew...I just gagged saying the word "nest" in that context.

I, I, I'm just having second thoughts about what I allow into my house. And don't judge me if you've never seen these shows. They are EYE OPENING and very interesting! Some of them feature million dollar homes too. They point out that an infestation is not always about cleanliness. Sometimes just introducing the pest into your home is all it takes for them to flourish in your warm, welcoming environment.

Can I submerge an entire chair in bleach?

Make it easier for me to comment on your blog!

You might get more comments on your blog if you make this simple change. Disable the "capcha" type feature which forces visitors to type in a jumbled up code word before they can comment. I know that I have abandoned commenting on many blogs because the code is so hard to read and not worth the time.

You'll find that spam isn't an issue really, at least I never get any. Another wise blogger did a similar post to this when I started blogging and I was very thankful for the simple little tip.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

Cowgirl Up! Linky Party #2

 Welcome to Week 2 of

 Cowgirl Up! Link Party . . .
the party with a cowgirl can-do  spirit!
1 Party, 4 Blogs

Wow!!  It's Anita here, and can I say that all of us at Team Cowgirl Up! were blown away by the response last week?  First off, week #1 kicked off with over 180 links, and the quality of projects was stellar.  Let me just say, YOU ROCK!!  I know there are lots of parties out there, and we are so excited you have taken the time to join us.

It was very difficult to select just a few projects to feature, but here's some that I really loved.

Head over Heels shared lots of wonderful ideas for her Texas country wedding.  (I do love a wedding!)

Coastal Colors showed off her side table redo with this great French graphic.

Coastal Charm saved mega-bucks with her thrifty new DIY $240 floor!

Craft Berry Bush shares how she made this wonderful winter wreath in a white frame.

French Country Cottage repurposed a garden table, making a new table top.  (I love a woman who can use power tools.)

A Few Pennies used odds and ends to create some new va-voom.

Savvy Southern Style showed gave us a tour of her dreamy, serene bedroom.

There were tons more projects I wanted to highlight, but for the sake of space, I'll stop there for this week.  If you were featured here, grab a Featured button.  Be sure to like our Facebook pages, since we also post favorites there too. If you got featured on Facebook, then feel free to grab a featured button also.
